Heatseeker is an innovative, affordable chassis system for your bolt action rifle, allowing you to easily upgrade a traditional factory rifle stock for improved versatility and a sleek, modern appearance.

This 1lb, 3 ounce chassis is machined from billet (solid block) high-strength 6061-T6 aluminum and includes a 10 ounce, 14" handguard cut from a unique extrusion shape exclusive to Sharps Bros. Both the chassis body and the handguard are finished in a matte black Cerakote. The handguard features MLOK slots on 4 sides for various attachment options (light, bipod, night vision, ARCA rail...) and two quick disconnect fittings per side for sling attachment.

Add your grip of choice with Heatseeker's standard AR15 grip interface - we're partial to our Brazilian Cherry grip & handguard panel set (as shown in the photos to the left). Heatseeker's built in -1913 rail interface allows you to further customize your rifle with your preferred -1913 interface stock. We really like the Samson S.A.S which you can find here (<-- click link)

This offering is for the AR magazine fed Ruger American Ranch models (calibers: .223, 300 Blackout, 350 Legend, 6.5 Grendel, 6mm ARC, 7.62x39, 338 ARC and 450 Bushmaster).

I'd actually give 4.5 Stars if possible

The Good:

Super easy to assemble. Loads of room in the handguard. I personally re-barreled my rifle to an adjacent caliber with a very heavy profile barrel and it ALMOST fit without issue! That's not a 0.5 star ding BTW - I fully expected to need to clearance the handguard before i was done to maintain the fully floating barrel.

The Samson B.R.E. 1913 folding stock adapter looks great and keeps this rifle short for transport (I put a 23" barrel with an ASR muzzle brake on the end so she gets a little long when she's fully set up). The forend has tons of M-lok slots which is good because i have matching S-7 weights on both sides, plus a Warne Skylight QD bipod below as well as an arca rail section for shooting off of a tripod and i still have enough room on the bottom for one more S-7 weight if i desire.

The wenge wood accents are still on there as well and yes i also opted for their wenge wood grip to finish it all off.

So... where's the 0.5 star ding? Well...

On this rifle, there's a little pin that holds in the bolt release button. On the factory stocks, this pin is held captive by the stock itself

Unfortunately, when you move your action to this (and other chassis platforms) the.chassis frame fails to rise high enough to capture this pin, so as you shoot, this little pin begins to drift out of its home and eventually falls out, allowing your spring loaded bolt retainer to come apart and the hidden spring flies far far away.

So... There's the deduction. I think this should be addressed upfront and a longer pin provided in the kit as this is the most complete fix for this issue.
